K1 Foundation is an African environmental non-profit organisation established with the purpose to educate rural, township and urban communities about the collective endeavour in dealing with the global pandemic that is waste within our societies. 

Our key beneficiaries are youth, school going learners, adult women and men who are waste pickers and their immediate families. But above all, our environment is the ultimate beneficiary from all the efforts.

We have various programmes that seek to uplift our communities. These programmes are divided into the following pillars:

  • Innovation to deliver environmental solutions 
  • Education Pillar 

Some of the partners that enable us to do the amazing work that we do include but not limited to: The Department of Forestry, fisheries & the environment; Polyco; Heineken; Coca-Cola; Fibre Circle & the Footprints foundation. 

We are best known for recycling which is an overarching objective towards a safe environment. Our work helps with waste reduction, the conservation of natural resources & contributes significantly towards the climate change mitigation agenda.
